Election Commission of India ne 2026 ke West Bengal Assembly elections se pehle police setup mein ek badi reshuffle ki hai. Total 19 senior police officers, jisme 13 districts ke SP bhi include hain, ko transfer kar diya gaya hai taaki polling neutral aur impartial ho sake.
Kis‑kis mein change hua?
• South Bengal aur North Bengal ke dono Additional Directors General (ADG) badal diye gaye hain. Rajesh Kumar Singh ko naya ADG South Bengal bana diya gaya hai, jabki K. Jayaraman ko ADG North Bengal ki posting mili hai.
• Barasat, border districts aur kuch important areas ke district SPs ke sath‑sath kuch police commissionerships (jaise Howrah, Barrackpore) mein bhi posting‑badlav hua hai.
Itna bada reshuffle kyun?
EC ka main target hai ki elections ke dauraan police aur administration bilkul neutral rahe. Pehle hi Chief Secretary, Home Secretary, DGP aur Kolkata Police Commissioner change ho chuke the; ab 19 IPS officers ki ye move isi strategy ka hissa hai, jisse West Bengal mein clean aur fair election setup bana saakhe.
Voters aur media ke liye iska matlab?
• Ye sab replace‑overs EC ki taraf se “impartial poll management” ka clear signal hai, jisse sabhi political parties ko fair chance mil sake.
• Political parties is move par debate kar sakte hain, lekin voters ka focus chahiye Model Code of Conduct, fair campaigning, aur safe, peaceful voting par rakhna chahiye.
